Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, non-demomination Christian housing organization. Through volunteer labor, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple
decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. On the fourth Saturday of the month, OPPC sends a team to work on a Habitat house. We leave the church at 8:30 a.m. and are home by 3:30 p.m. Particular building skills are not necessary. Habitat work site leaders will teach volunteers how to do anything that needs to be done. Family Promise
Family Promise, formerly kown as Interfaith Hospitality Network, is a program which brings shelter, meals and support services to families temporarily without homes. OPPC serves as a host congregation to homeless families in our area with other churches participating as the Southtowns Clusters. Four to five times a year, families stay in Fellowship Hall. Volunteers are needed to provide meals, entertainment and homework assistance for children and to stay overnight. This program is currently undergoing reorganization and is looking for financial support, and is presently "on hold."
