What is Mother’s Day Out?

Mother’s Day Out is a non-profit, cooperative play school program designed to give quality care to infants and toddlers while their parents are out. In operation for over 30 years, this is a great first-step program for your child or children.  MDO is less structured than a regular preschool, but we do offer music, play, story time, art, snack, as well as fine and gross motor activities. 

What ages can participate in the program?

Mother’s Day Out accepts children aged 12 months to 4 years old. We have two classes: one for children aged 12 months to 2 ½ years and one for 2 1/2 to 4 year olds.  Please note: if your child turns 4 before December 1st, then they are too old to be enrolled in our program. 

When is Mother’s Day Out?

Mother’s Day out runs September thru June, Monday-Friday mornings from 9:15 a.m. until Noon.  We follow the same calendar for holidays as the Orchard Park school district. 

How many days can I register for?

A child can be registered for 1, 2, or 3 days per week.  There is no minimum requirement of days registered to participate.  Cost of program is dependant on number of days registered, plus the number of children enrolled. 

What does it mean that you are a cooperative play school?

Mother’s Day Out is a Cooperative child care organization which relies on parent participation to keep the program affordable to all.  Parents participate, along with a teacher, in the care of children.  With the help of our parent aides, our classrooms maintain a ratio of one adult to five children.  Depending on the number of days your child or children attend, you will be required to co-op throughout the year.  Our co-op calendar comes out four times a school year and we do our best to accommodate all parent requests (vacations, appointments etc). If you prefer not to co-op, we provide a list of parents who are willing to “sub” for you for a fee of $25.00/day. 

How much does the program cost?

The cost of the program is $440/year, per enrolled spot, plus a one time, non-refundable $25.00 registration fee.
